A Little Look Back at 2015
I read somewhere that former President George W. Bush read one book each week while he was in office. That inspired my goal for 2015. Unlike my photography project, I took this goal fairly seriously. You can imagine my annoyance when I saw the year coming to a close and I still had four more books to read. Goodreads stuck it to me with their recap of the year and finishing it with “Better luck next year!” I virtually stuck my tongue out.
No matter. I’ll try again this year.
Some of my top rated books for last year:
The Martian by Andy Weir (Can’t wait to watch the movie when it comes out on DVD.)
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (This was a re-read for me. Enjoyed it as much as the first time I read it.)
Teaching from Rest by Sarah Mackenzie (I was surprised by how much I highlighted in this book. It turned out to be a great read.)
Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay (Such a fun, modern twist on an Austen classic!)
Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman (Another re-read. SUCH a fantastic book!)
The Nesting Place by Myquillyn Smith (I’m not much for reading decorating books, but this book surprised me. It’s so much more than a decorating book. I loved it!)
Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit (This was the first book I read aloud to the children after my dad passed away. It was just what we all needed it.)
Elvis and Me by Priscilla Presley (I devoured this book.)
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (Read this as part of book club. Excellent!)
Obviously, I was distracted by other things in 2015 since I didn’t meet my reading goal.
Things like . . . . Netflix.
I re-watched Alias. You can never watch Alias too many times.
When Longmire season four premiered on Netflix I told myself I would watch one episode a week and stretch it out . . . snort out loud! And Netflix picked it up again for another season. YES.
I watched the final season of White Collar. I’m going to miss Caffrey.
I tried to get into a show called Graceland. I gave up.
I skipped around Friends’ episodes.
I re-watched some of Gilmore Girls. And some of Hart of Dixie.
And I finished out the year with binge-watching Legends.
What did you read and watch in 2015?
P.S. Shelby surprised AJ and I with a drawing of us for Christmas. She is so talented. I love it!
