Yesterday was a day of firsts for our family.
For me.
After thirty-four years, I welcomed a kitten into my home.
My daughter has been asking for the last several years if she could have a cat. I am not a cat person. My family are not cat people. We’re dog people. Honestly, cats kind of give me the heebie-jeebies.
Over time, she set her money aside and my heart softened. Slightly.
It came down to this: I would hate for her to miss out on a life experience simply because it’s not my thing.
She was beyond excited yesterday and her brothers were excited for her, too. She and her dad called us when they were just down the road from the house and the boys ran outside to welcome the new kitten home. It was precious.

Right now, I’m feeling like the dog who keeps looking in the window wondering what in the world is going on and who is the little runt in her house.
The family keeps telling me Ahsoka will grow on me. We’ll see.
P. S. The name Ahsoka comes from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Yes, I’m surrounded by huge Star Wars fans.
oh how sweet. she is adorable
KICAT (short for kitty cat)!!!
I know you’re not thrilled now, but one day down the road, you’ll be napping on the couch and you’ll wake up to the her gentle motor…and then it will lull you back to sleep.
So precious!
Aw, she’s precious. Just precious. And we love her name.
I am not a cat person either. We adopted a kitten who showed up on our doorstep one morning. She was starving, bit my finger while I was feeding her and was kept confined for 10 days to make sure she didn’t have rabies. Then we found out they were going to kill her after the ten days. You should have seen the tears – mine included. We pulled some strings and got her released from prison. Callie was with us for 11 years. We now have two more cats, one of which found a snake for us yesterday. Good kitty!
You’re a good mom.
i love my 20+ kitty cat, but OMG this makes me want to go rescue ANOTHER one just so i can hold one that tiny. she’s precious!
i never thought i’d see this day.
i don’t love animals (don’t tell PETA) but I do love my lucy. she’s quirky and weird but sweet and loyal.
if cats didn’t poop or pee, i’d own a handful of them.
have fun with her!
