The Arkansas Challenge Bike Ride | A Ride with Wounded Warriors

This morning my husband and daughter went on the annual Arkansas Challenge Bike Ride. This was the eighth year of riding with the Warriors. It was a group ride sponsored by the Arkansas Freedom Fund. They covered twenty-two miles, spent time riding alongside veterans and soaked up some of the beauty that makes up our state.

My husband said they were escorted and surrounded by a group of bikers the entire time called Rolling Thunder. He said it was such a blessing and that they basically owned the road. ;-)

My heart swelled as we watched these veterans work hard to make it up the last bridge. I’m extra thankful this evening for those who have served our country and for those who serve now. I’m thankful for those men and women who gathered this morning and rode alongside these veterans. I’m thankful for a daughter with a sensitive heart who felt like she needed to be a part of today.

Big Dam Bridge 100

After several months of training, my husband rode in the Big Dam Bridge 100K this past Saturday. It was his first cycling event in over 20 years. He was hoping to finish in about 3:30, but ended up coming in under that. As a runner, I know how good it feels to come in under a goal.

The children and I were excited to cheer him on and look forward to many more rides in the future!
